Back and (Slightly) Burned from Salta

Salta stonesHi friends! Housekeeping post here, no more.

As you may or may not have noticed, I’ve been gone for a few weeks. Who knew, right? (My parents did, at least.) Well, I’m finally back!

For anyone concerned (or those of you feigning concern), I’ve been traveling in northern Argentina. And now I’ve returned to Buenos Aires, bursting with good, fresh blog material on Salta, Tilcara, Iruya, and some little towns in between! I took a lot of pictures, and I took a lot of notes.

This picture in particular is of a river that runs from San Isidro, a town of 300, to Iruya. And yes, it is my current desktop background as well.( Also, can I just mention — without using a hashtag — that it is most definitely not filtered?) Look at the colors! Looks at the ripples! I’m going back as soon as I can!

I went with my boyfriend, Agustin, and a good friend who goes by the name of Cheddar Cheese (but only sometimes). We took a bus from Buenos Aires to Salta, where we stayed for two nights; then a bus up to Tilcara, where we stayed for four nights; then a bus up to Iruya, where we stayed for our final two nights. To return, we took three different buses from Iruya back to Buenos Aires within a stretch of some 36 odd hours. (On the plus side, though, we didn’t have to pay for a hostel that night.)

I have lists of hostels, a sketch of a budget, day trip ideas, and — everyone’s favorite — a harrowing tale of food poisoning. All of these posts will be published in the next week or so, so watch out.

And please, as always, if you have any questions or recommendations, I’m dying to hear them! Can’t wait to share,

Sharon
